The Names in This Verse (4)

387 gopīmanoharāpāṅgaḥ

whose sidelong glance steals the gopīs' hearts

S.B.G 10.21.5

Whose sidelong glance enchants the gopīs — the famous 'apāṅga' glance of Kṛṣṇa toward the gopīs is described repeatedly as causing them to forget themselves.

388 veṇuvādanatatparaḥ

intent on playing the flute

S.B.G 10.21.5

Absorbed in flute-playing — in the Veṇu-gīta, Kṛṣṇa is described as wholly absorbed in his own flute; the all-conscious Lord lost in his own music.

389 vinyastavadanāmbhojaḥ

his lotus-face bent to the flute

S.B.G 10.21.5

With lotus-face turned (to the flute) — Kṛṣṇa's lotus-face turned slightly to one side as he plays the flute is the angle that bhakti art reproduces endlessly.

390 cāruśabdakṛtānanaḥ

whose mouth gives forth lovely sound

S.B.G 10.21.7

Whose mouth produces lovely sounds — the flute's music IS Kṛṣṇa's own breath; his mouth is the source of the most beautiful sound in creation.
