अदृष्टवत्सपव्रातो ब्रह्मविज्ञातवैभवः ।गोवत्सवत्सपान्वेषी विराट्पुरुषविग्रहः॥
adṛṣṭavatsapavrāto brahmavijñātavaibhavaḥ ·govatsavatsapānveṣī virāṭpuruṣavigrahaḥ
finding the band of cowherd boys gone from sight
Brahmā has hidden them away
'Whose troop of calf-tending boys has gone missing' — during the Brahma-vimohana, Kṛṣṇa cannot find either the calves or the boys; this is the trigger for his cosmic counter-act.
whose greatness Brahmā sought to fathom
'Whose glory Brahmā has known' — only after Brahmā's own confusion does he recognize the vaibhava (cosmic glory) of Kṛṣṇa; he then sings his hundred-verse hymn of recognition.
who searched for both the calves and the boys
'Seeker of the calves and the cowherd children' — when both are stolen simultaneously by Brahmā, Kṛṣṇa, missing both, walks through the forest calling their names — the cosmic Lord searching for his playmates.
whose very body is the cosmic Person (Virāṭ)
'Of the cosmic Person's body' — to replace the stolen calves and boys, Kṛṣṇa expands his own being into all of them simultaneously; the virāṭ-puruṣa (cosmic body) appears as cowherd children.
