'Who decorates his curls with peacock feathers' — the peacock feather (piñcha) in Kṛṣṇa's hair is his most famous ornament; in Vṛndāvana the boys gather feathers from the moulting peacocks to decorate each other.

'Fond of forest food' — in the forest, the boys eat what they bring from home together; Kṛṣṇa swaps lunches with his friends and proclaims their humble fare the most delicious of all.

'Who calls the calves with his horn' — Kṛṣṇa carries a small horn (śṛṅga) with which he calls the calves at evening; the calves recognize his particular call and come immediately to him.
