Verse 35

सवित्रीस्नेहसंश्लिष्टः सवित्रीस्तनलोलुपः ।नवनीतार्थनाप्रह्वो नवनीतमहाशनः॥

savitrīsnehasaṃśliṣṭaḥ savitrīstanalolupaḥ ·navanītārthanāprahvo navanītamahāśanaḥ

The Names in This Verse (4)

162 savitrīsnehasaṃśliṣṭaḥ

enfolded in his mother's love

S.B.G 10.9.10

Yaśodā's love for the child is the model of vātsalya-bhakti; she embraces him in every mood — tenderness, anger, fear, pride — and the embrace is the entire relationship.

163 savitrīstanalolupaḥ

eager for his mother's breast

S.B.G 10.9.1

When Yaśodā sits down to nurse Kṛṣṇa while churning, he leaves the pot and comes eagerly to her breast; the milk overflowing on the fire becomes the occasion for the binding.

164 navanītārthanāprahvaḥ

who bowed and coaxed in begging for butter

S.B.G 10.9.1

Kṛṣṇa stands by Yaśodā as she churns, asking for butter; she promises 'when I finish'; impatient, he interrupts the churning to nurse instead.

165 navanītamahāśanaḥ

the great eater of fresh butter

S.B.G 10.9.5

'Great butter-eater' — Kṛṣṇa eats so much butter and curd that he never seems satiated; the gopīs of Gokula calculate that more butter goes missing than Yaśodā's churn ever produces.
