The demon Tṛṇāvarta, sent as a whirlwind, snatches the toddler into the sky but finds the child unbearably heavy; Kṛṣṇa's weight cannot be borne by any force.
destroyer of the whirlwind-demon Tṛṇāvarta
As the whirlwind carries him into the sky, Kṛṣṇa seizes the demon's throat; his tiny hands crush the neck and the demon falls dead from the sky.
who filled his mother with wonder
When Yaśodā peers into the baby's mouth to check for mud, she sees the entire universe; overcome by wonder, she faints; Kṛṣṇa withdraws the vision through Yoga-māyā.
