The Names in This Verse (4)

154 bāloktamṛtkathārambhaḥ

about whom the children raised the tale of earth-eating

S.B.G 10.8.33

The companions run to Yaśodā saying 'He ate mud!'; Kṛṣṇa's indignant denial ('I didn't!') is his first recorded utterance — the Lord's first lie.

155 mitrāntargūḍhavigrahaḥ

who hid himself among his friends

S.B.G 10.13.11

During the Brahma-vimohana, Kṛṣṇa conceals himself as the cowherd boys themselves; his true form is hidden within the friend-body, undetected even by Brahmā.

156 kṛtasantrāsalolākṣaḥ

with eyes rolling in feigned fright

S.B.G 10.9.9

Caught in the act, Kṛṣṇa's eyes dart from side to side in mock-terror of his mother's punishment; the terrified expression of the Supreme is treasured in bhakti.

157 jananīpratyayāvahaḥ

who brought conviction to his mother

showing the universe within his mouth

S.B.G 10.9.13

When Yaśodā ties Kṛṣṇa to the mortar and leaves, he seems subdued; her confidence in her discipline is momentarily restored.
