The Names in This Verse (4)

198 niyuddhalīlāsaṃhṛṣṭaḥ

delighting in mock-wrestling

S.B.G 10.12.3

Kṛṣṇa delights in wrestling games (niyuddha-līlā) with his friends; this prefigures the wrestling matches that will defeat Cāṇūra and Muṣṭika at Kaṃsa's arena.

199 kūjānukṛtakokilaḥ

who imitated the cuckoo's cooing

S.B.G 10.12.3

Kṛṣṇa imitates the cooing of the cuckoo (kokila) so perfectly that the bird itself responds; his imitations encompass every forest creature.

200 upāttahaṃsagamanaḥ

who took on the gliding gait of a swan

S.B.G 10.12.3

'Whose gait imitates the swan' — Kṛṣṇa walks with the graceful swaying movement of the haṃsa; the Bhāgavata calls his natural gait that of a royal swan, beautiful beyond imitation.

201 sarvajanturutānukṛt

who mimicked the calls of every creature

S.B.G 10.12.3

Kṛṣṇa can imitate the sound of every creature (sarva-jantu); his perfect mimicry includes birds, beasts, and even insects — the Lord of all knows every creature's voice.
